Numerous environmental regulations are pushing brands and distributors to integrate new skills in order to evolve their design and purchasing strategy towards more circular, transparent and responsible sourcing. So how to do it? Choice 4 Impact advocates a transversal approach to eco-design and supports brands in understanding the environmental and regulatory aspects from the creation to the end of life of their fashion collection.
A life cycle approach…
Thanks to the “life cycle” approach we identify the environmental aspects related to the choice of materials, production techniques, use and end of life of products.
Understanding a multidimensional vision of sourcing integrating the criticality of materials and the preservation of natural resources (water / deforestation / biodiversity) highlights the resilience and adaptability of your value chain.
…Which engages suppliers and encourages transparency in your value chain…
The commitment of suppliers to a process of continuous improvement and data collection is essential for the success of the ecodesign approach. Eco-design pushes to improve the transparency and traceability of the value chain.
The environmental assessment, a key stage of the study, allows hotspots (the most significant impacts) to be confirmed. Raw materials and manufacturing can account for up to 80% of a garment’s environmental footprint and will have an impact throughout the life cycle with their ability to be easily recycled.
…To identify eco-design options to implement.
Identifying a coherent eco-design pathway depends on the brands’ abilities to implement best practices according to their resources and market positioning. We are setting, in collaboration with brands, indicators that will enable to follow the commitments made and monitor the trajectory of impact mitigation.
An understanding of consumer expectations and the expected environmental evidence helps us to promote the gains towards the market.
A strategy that brings environmental gains, but not only that….
Ademe (French environmental agency) studies show that companies having implemented eco-design have, for some, generated economic gains by rationalising their supply. Refashion (Textiles end of life organization) eco-modulation bonuses financially reward brands for their approach.
Engaging in eco-design means increasing its attractiveness to investors who analyse activities using ESG indicators. (Environment Social Governance). This approach enhance to unite teams around a meaningful project and helps to energise and make your employer brand more attractive.
Eco-design support can be largely subsidised by Ademe and Bpi.
Choice 4 Impact supports brands in the diagnose and implementation of their eco-design strategy.
