“Esperienze Tessili”– A Tale of Artists, Artisans and Botanics at Denim PV The - Denim Première Vision
In the upcoming edition of Denim PV, visitors will step into a magical space designed to showcase the ancient crafts of dyeing and weaving through innovative, artistic perspectives. This experiential exhibit offers a fusion of knowledge, creativity, and connection, transporting attendees into an entirely new dimension of textile art.
Tessitura La Colombina
Carlo Colombo, the passionate owner of Tessitura La Colombina, invites Denim PV visitors to discover the time-honored craft of weaving by working directly on a century-old loom. With a dedication to heritage and craftsmanship, Carlo expertly demonstrates the complex process behind weaving indigo wool blankets, using natural fibers like wool, hemp and cotton to create unique, handwoven pieces that embody both tradition and innovation. Each blanket showcases the artisanal skill that defines Tessitura La Colombina, combining raw, natural materials with Carlo’s vision to produce textiles that are not only beautiful but also deeply rooted in cultural heritage.
Masterpiece: Dear Nature, the collaboration with A.Vetra.
Handwoven blankets infused with botanical hues.
Dear Nature is an encounter between botanical dye and traditional textile craft methods. A woven blanket series that creates tactile and chromatic stories inspired by the land where the resources are rooted. Through its slow manufacturing approaches and following Mother Earth cycles, the project moves at nature’s pace and believes in imperfection, chasing healthy, ethical, and sustainable manufacturing behaviors, aspiring to reconnect with nature and gain a deeper knowledge of local resources.
In addition to these handwoven works. Carlo is presenting an exclusive selection of denim fabrics from his extensive archive, curated in collaboration with the Denim PV team. This carefully chosen collection reflects the rich history and diversity of denim, featuring fabrics that range from classic indigos to rare, experimental weaves that highlight the material’s versatility and appeal. By showcasing these archival pieces, Carlo offers a glimpse into the evolution of denim, celebrating its enduring legacy while also inspiring new possibilities within the fashion industry.
Tessitura La Colombina’s participation in Denim PV serves as a testament to the beauty and value of artisanal weaving in the modern denim landscape. It provides a rare opportunity for attendees to engage with the denim narrative on a deeper level, appreciating the skill and passion that go into each fabric, from loom to final piece. Through this fusion of tradition and artistry, Tessitura La Colombina invites us to reimagine the future of denim with respect for its past.
