Mathilde Hiron: Exceptional Craftsmanship The - Spring-Summer 26 - Accessories et components - Bag & shoes - Fabrics - Fabrics - Accessories - Première Vision Paris
Sculptural, meticulous and lush, the works of Mathilde Hiron, a rising designer and finalist in the Accessories category at the 38th Hyères International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories, are a brilliant blend of craftsmanship, art, fashion and sustainability. Convinced that ethical material choices can go hand in hand with prestige and luxury, Mathilde engages her creative process right from the design stage. Her creations are not just accessories, they are veritable manifestos advocating for responsible fashion, where overlooked materials are given a second life and transformed into extraordinary objects.
An homage to savoir-faire
At a time when sustainability and circularity are reshaping the fashion industry, and a mastery of savoir-faire – a guarantee of quality and distinction – plays a central role in contemporary approaches, Mathilde Hiron’s work is a model of sustainable innovation. Her approach marries creativity, technical expertise and ingenious resource management.
As part of its February edition celebrating savoir-faire, Première Vision Paris invited the young designer to develop three exclusive pieces for the Inspiration Forum. This 11,12 and 13 February, Hiron will present three unique pieces – a duo of bags and a jewelry item – in the show’s Inspiration Forum. Using both components sourced from previous Première Vision forums, and working in collaboration with the Société Choletaise de Fabrication, Hiron was given the opportunity to delve into the company’s textile archives. This partnership allowed her to draw on rare materials to enrich her pieces.
From dormant stock to sustainable luxury
Working on her 24-frame sample loom, Mathilde Hiron revisits traditional weaving techniques, infusing them with an innovative, modern vision. Her designs are the fruit of countless hours of research in various collection centers, where she uncovers treasures hidden in dormant supplies. From batches of antique handmade beads to archives of specialty yarns found at their manufacturers, the designer explores high-quality stocks to incorporate into her designs, unearthing treasures among vintage items.
The lush, opulent aesthetic of her work is the result of a formidable creative serendipity. Combining weaving, braiding and embroidery, Mathilde meticulously crafts each spectacular ornament, jewelry or bag.
Combining textiles and ceramics
Another feature of Mathilde Hiron’s work is her integration of ceramics into her creations. Bespoke ceramic details – whether brooches, pendants or sculptural handles – infuse her accessories with a new dimension.
Intuitive and daring, Mathilde Hiron extends her field of exploration to other materials, such as hot-pressed rubber, feathers, leather and lace. In the future, she aims to expand her range by introducing clothing items.
Following Première Vision, her work will also be exhibited at Tranoï, taking place next 6-9 March 2025 at the Palais Brongniart during Paris Fashion Week. This provides a new opportunity to discover the world of a promising designer who speaks to contemporary concerns and issues, redefining resources and manufacturing processes for circular and sustainable creations.
