SS 26 Decodings: Designs The - Spring-Summer 26 - Prints - Designs - Première Vision Paris
The Spring-Summer 26 season is unfolding against a backdrop of profound change. In response to these shifts, three guiding themes have emerged: Re-fresh, Re-store, Re-set. Addressing climate intensity through industrial processes and innovations in materials, restoring ancestral practices and soil health, and refocusing on the present moment and the reality of our bodies—these are all avenues to explore to adapt to the transformations of our time. In textile design, these themes translate into reimagined botanical patterns, as well as a strong emphasis on artisanal techniques and folkloric inspirations.
Intensely Botanical
Refresh Expressivity
Vibrant floral prints awaken the senses. These are disrupted Gardens of Eden, disturbed by human or digital intervention. Finger smudges, solarised effects and layered compositions merge into a dreamy, hallucinatory chaos. The strikingly beautiful result defies optical science, particularly through the free layering of sharp and blurred elements.
Punk Floral
Another take on floral motifs combines romance with a wild, untamed edge. Here the approach is spontaneous, even impulsive, emphasising the delicacy of the flowers by contrasting them with bold, expressive strokes. Dark colour palettes heighten the dramatic intensity of these compositions.
Botanical Idyll
A change of pace towards a patient and passionate contemplation of nature. Botanical patterns are rendered here with a keen sense of harmony and precision. Traditional techniques—graphite, coloured pencils, and watercolour—come together in vintage-inspired sketches, seemingly suspended in time.
Falling Petals
In a world of soft, romantic hues, petals drift gently down from the sky. There is no wildness here, merely a pure celebration of floral forms. Pastel and neutral shades intertwine to create delicate and undulating compositions. Techniques such as pastels and felts embrace their charming imperfections, offering a poetic interpretation of nature through human eyes.
Plantasia
Nature is not just expressed through flora. Here, juxtaposed elements give rise to a new hybrid bestiary. Wild animals merge with bark and foliage in surprising fusions, taking on warm and sensuous tones. Minerals also join the party, interwoven with evocative shell-like textures.
Old wardrobe
Ancient textiles are passionately reinterpreted, featuring meticulously crafted patterns. Ultra-fine lines evoke the spirit of upholstery, tapestries and wallpaper from days gone by.
Artisanal stitch
An embroidery-inspired spirit takes over prints, celebrating ancestral craftsmanship. Surfaces are adorned with colourful floral motifs, blurring the line between photographic embroidery and trompe-l’œil cross-stitch effects. The prints gain a heightened sense of materiality.
