Ecodesign, marketing claims, brands ‘responsibility for waste and recycling… the legislation that’s being developed in the EU affects the entire fashion value chain. The European Union aims to end Fast Fashion, reduce the leakage of microplastics, create a circular economy with more durable, high-quality textiles and new markets for re-use and repair of clothing. But if some policy developments are not improved, it will have the opposite effect of what the EU is trying to achieve. Since 2021, Make the Label Count Campaign wants to raise consumers’ and police makers’ awareness on how it will disadvantage natural fibres and what can be done to have a fairer system.
