Denim Première Vision is thrilled to present the upcoming exhibition Abstract Journeys, featuring the evocative work of Taiwanese-born artist Yao-Hui Kuo. Based in Italy for over a decade, Yao-Hui Kuo has crafted a unique artistic language that bridges Eastern and Western aesthetics, seamlessly integrating her cultural heritage with Italian influences. Her paintings serve as a rich dialogue between these worlds, capturing a timeless harmony through her brushwork.
Yao-Hui Kuo’s artistic journey is as fascinating as her work. Growing up in Tainan, Taiwan, she was surrounded by the artistry of her parents. Her father, a master craftsman specialising in luxury yacht interiors, taught her the importance of surface quality and material combinations. Meanwhile, her mother, a skilled seamstress, instilled in her a keen sense for proportion and detail. These influences have manifested in Yao-Hui’s art, where each piece is crafted with precision and intention, much like a tailor shaping a bespoke garment.
In Abstract Journeys, Yao-Hui draws on her deep understanding of color and material. Her creations often feature acrylics, spray paint, plaster and sand, allowing her to explore unique textures and tactile layers. These choices imbue her work with a sense of fluidity and continuity, inviting viewers into an experience that is both visually dynamic and emotionally resonant.

In addition, her admiration for the compositions and colors of Caravaggio and Klimt has guided her Western perspective, enabling her to create expressive, yet finely balanced compositions.
